OTTAWA, CANADA - 24 June 2009 - Green Parents' List (www.greenparentslist.com) offers manufacturers and distributors of children's products regulated by the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) the opportunity to learn about the recently launched Green Parents' List Check Mark™. Green Parents' List offers the use of the Green Parents' List Check Mark™ for children's products that demonstrate compliance to the restricted materials requirements specified in the CPSIA.

The CPSIA was enacted in August, 2008 in response to high-profile toy recalls for unacceptable levels of lead (Pb) and phthalates. Under the CPSIA, manufacturers or distributors of children's products in the U.S. are required to confirm that their products meet lead (Pb), phthalates and other heavy metal requirements, and in some cases provide third-party testing reports from accredited laboratories as proof. Unfortunately, manufacturers and distributors have not had a means of easily and effectively reassuring consumers of their added efforts to provide safe products.

The Green Parents' List Check Mark™ provides manufacturers with an identifiable mark to indicate that the product has passed an independent review of materials compliance requirements by parents having scientific and engineering backgrounds. Products that meet the review requirements can use the Green Parents' List Check Mark™ on products, packaging, and promotional material, and be listed on the Green Parents' List publicly accessible web site list of reviewed products.
